Authorization Requirement for Importation Certain Products B. TECHNICAL BARRIERS TO TRADE This measure provides the requirement to get the authorization from the relevant agency. Anyone who wants to import this item, if necessary, needs to get recommendation letter or registration from the relevant ministries or departments according to their existing regulations even though this item does not require the import license. Authorization Requirement for Nuclear Material, Radioactive Material or Irradiation Apparatus Importer B. TECHNICAL BARRIERS TO TRADE This measure (Chapter 8, Para 17) provides the requirement to obtain the license for the import of certain product. A person who has received the registration certificate shall, if desirous selling nuclear material, radioactive material or irradiation apparatus, apply to the Department of Atomic Energy in order to obtain the license. The objectives of the measure are to develop atomic energy utilization in the State, to ensure safety in utilization of atomic energy in the State, to lay down and carry out measures for prevention of atomic radiation effects on man and environment. A person desirous of importing any kind of nuclear material, radioactive material or irradiation apparatus shall, before applying for import-export permit or license to the relevant Government Department or Organization, apply to the Department of Atomic Energy in order to obtain prior permission. The objectives of the measure are to develop atomic energy utilization in the State, to ensure safety in utilization of atomic energy in the State, to lay down and carry out measures for prevention of atomic radiation effects on man and environment.
